Meet the Cardboard Cosmos Cast and Creatives

Emily Adams

Intergalactic Being

Emily is a northern actor and theatre maker and was associate artist of the New Vic Theatre 2019-2020.

She most recently performed with Filament Productions in their immersive productions, Chasing Christmas and The Forgotten News Desk and is thrilled to be working with the wonderful Stute Theatre. 

Holly Wright

Intergalactic Being

Holly is an actor and musician, who graduated from the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts in 2021.

Since graduating she has worked with theatre companies including Altru Drama, All Things Considered, The B Tales and Ros Norford Touring. In 2022, she completed a residency with Z-arts, where she developed a theatre piece for children, which she wrote, directed and produced.

She is currently recording her debut EP.

Hallam Breen

Director

Training: University of Bristol, University of London.

Selected, as director: Fudge (Gilded Balloon), Marmite (VAULTS Festival), Ginger Beer (King’s Head Theatre), The Silent Land (Bristol Old Vic Studio) and The Big Meal (The Alma Theatre).

As assistant: As You Like It (UK Tour), The Aftermath (The Piece Hall), The Accrington Pals (Italia Conti), This is Our Town (STEAM Museum). 

Rachel Shore

Designer

Rachel is a designer and maker for performance, installation, events and immersive environments. Her work is often aimed towards children and families and she loves to create designs where audience can interact with the space.

Rachel trained in Design for Theatre, Performance and Events at Birmingham City University. She has a theatrical approach and enjoys designing for non-traditional spaces. Her work includes collaboration with Stute Theatre, Filament Projects, Wild Rumpus and Made by Mortals.

Pip Hussey

Touring Stage Manager

Pip is based in Manchester and has worked in stage management since graduating in Theatre Studies in 1999. 

Recent theatre includes: Song From Far Away, The Maids, Ghosts, Inkheart (HOME, Manchester); One Man Two Guvnors, An Adventure (Bolton Octagon); Reasons To Stay Alive, hang, The Changing Room (Sheffield Crucible Theatre); A Streetcar Named Desire, The Skriker, There Is A Light That Never Goes Out, Persuasion, The Last Days Of Troy, Blindsided, Punk Rock, Black Roses: The Killing Of Sophie Lancaster, Rats’ Tales, Miss Julie, Two, Mogadishu, Crocodiles, Pygmalion, A Raisin In The Sun (Manchester Royal Exchange Theatre); Whisky Galore, Blithe Spirit (Oldham Coliseum Theatre); Silver Lining (English Touring Theatre); Storm In A Flower Vase, A British Subject, The Killing Of Sister George, Baggage (Arts Theatre, London); Ballroom Blitz, Cooking With Elvis, A Kick In The Baubles, Game Boys & Console Cuties (Hull Truck Theatre).

Pip has also worked on productions with Leeds Playhouse, Opera Up Close, National Theatre, Lip Service, Scottish Opera, Lyric Hammersmith, Manchester International Festival, Red Ladder, UCOpera and Graeae and spent two years as Company Stage Manager at Phoenix Dance Theatre.

Isobel Coward

Assistant Director

Isobel trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. 
Stage credits include: Celia in As You Like It (Northern Broadsides and New Vic Theatre), Loz in Nicer Than Orange Squash (Leeds Playhouse), Naomi in Home Girl (Derby Theatre), She/Her/She/Mother & Other in Qweershorts (Queerdog Theatre), Francesca in In a Room with Gavin & Francesca (National Theatre Education) and Sian/Jess in OutStageUs (Hive North/Hope Mill Theatre).   

Short Film credits include Jessie in Cat’s Cradle (Knock and Nash), Claire in Two Steps Forward (038 Films) and Rose in Rose (Izzy Pye).

Her Internet credits include Goneril in King Lear (Bard in the Barn) and Kay in Buzzing (Toby Hulse). 

This is Isobel’s first Assistant Director role and she’s very excited to make her debut with Stute Theatre!

Charlie Ellen-Ayers

Junior Producer

Charlie is an actor, theatre maker and producer based in Manchester. They are passionate about creating high quality accessible theatre for younger audiences in the Northwest. She graduated with a Masters in Professional Acting in 2021 and has since been exploring her freelance practice.

Recent acting credits include: On The Border (Kindred Folk Theatre Company) and Treasure Island (Derby Theatre). Assistant produced: Submerge Festival.

Sophia Hatfield

Writer and Producer

Sophia Hatfield is a North West based Actor-Musician and Theatre-Maker, originally from West Yorkshire. As an actor and musician, Sophia has worked extensively with companies across the UK including New Perspectives, RSC Education, The New Vic, Derby Theatre, Potboiler, Northern Broadsides, M6, Birmingham Rep and Bolton Octagon.

In 2016, Sophia founded Stute Theatre, an award winning multidisciplinary theatre company, creating touring theatre and live art across the UK. She has since gone on to create and tour theatre all over the UK, specialising in taking inventive live work to library and community spaces. Most recently her work for Stute includes I Am No Bird, a co production with the Stephen Jospeh Theatre and Brontë Parsonage Museum, Fables at the Kitchen Table, an inventive show for young audiences and several Telephone Theatre experiences with Stute Theatre & New Perspectives, which reached over 400 people during lockdown.

Sam Cheadle

Production Manager

Sam is a freelance production stage manager based in the North West. Credits include: I Am No Bird (Stute Theatre, 2022, R&D - 2021), Love on the Dole, The Salford Docker (Salford Community Theatre, 2015, 2019, 2021 - audio adaptation), The Chester Mystery Plays (2013, 2018), European City of Sport Opening Ceremony (Stoke Council - Northwood Stadium, 2015), Celtic the Musical (Alterean Ltd - National Tour, 2017, 2019) and The D Road (Claybody, Stoke, 2019).

Sam is passionate about creating community engaging theatre and making the arts truly accessible to all. Sam is thrilled to be working with Stute Theatre again on Cardboard Cosmos, creating innovative theatre for young people in the community. 

Shannon David

Casting Directror

Shannon is a freelance Casting Director and Writer from the West Midlands.

Elise Casting was formed in 2020. Alongside her freelance practice Shannon works for the Royal Shakespeare Company in the Company & Stage Management department and prior to that in Production for Derby Theatre. She is a an Alumni of Tremough Follies Musical Theatre Society with a BA in Creative Writing.

She is passionate about showcasing Midlands and Northern based stories. Shannon’s previous credits with Stute Theatre include I Am No Bird: A Modern Brontë Story.
